Seminar on “Activity planning”

In two districts of Khatlon region seminar on planning of activities of women’s clubs for 10 women’s clubs completed. The seminar was conducted under the Small Grants Program of project “Power of women in women's clubs. Transfer of experience from the north to the south of Tajikistan”. The project is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland under the “Polish Aid” program. Seminars were held in the period from April 6 to 15, 2014.

During the seminars women were very active and expressed the hope that small grants bring in created funds of clubs considerable profit, and women improve their quality of life

Club “Gulchini Muhtarama”

In the village Fidokor live 1500 households. Over 50% of its population is women. The main sources of rural life is labor migration (approximately 70% of men are in the migration) and agriculture. Women are engaged in agriculture: mainly cotton growing. Women of the club “Gulchini Muhtarama” - women with secondary education. Only one woman has unfinished higher education. The age of members of the clubl between 33 and 61. All the women in the club merged based on their skills - the ability to embroider and sew. Over 10 years, these women had a common job: they sewn and embroidered, but they have not been joined into a single club.

For more productive work, get more profit and improve product quality women lack the modern machines. Seminar on planning was timely and useful for women. They decided to purchase six sewing machines and overlock machine.

Just women decided that a more effective action in the winter it tedious stove for heating a sewing workshop. Machines will be installed at home sorority leader.

Club “Orzu”

 In the village Khushvakht live over 327 households. Over 60% of men are in the migration. Women are engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing. Women of the club “Orzu” – are women with secondary education. The age of members of the club is from 43 to 63 years. All the women in the club merged based on the fact that they all are poor women and not married. Primordially people in this village were engaged in the cultivation of potatoes and tomatoes. Currently growing of potatoes is decreased, as now there is no male power and market for sale. Women of this club in the last project period purchased sewing machines and it brings them now a small income. To replenish they fund women from the club this year decided to breed animal and think that the keeping of livestock will allow them to increase the profitability of the club, and families will have milk and dairy products.

Club “Saiyora”

In the village Kirov live more than 200 households. More than 60% of population is in migration. Women and men are engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing and grow strawberries. The number of women in the village are more than men, and they are 70%. Women of the club “Saiyora” - a woman with secondary education. The age of members of the club is from 26 to 53 years. Being primordially agricultural region, population mainly engaged in the cultivation of strawberries, garlic and wheat. In backyards women grow vegetables, greens and strawberries, but the weather conditions do not allow them to grow again, which brings the main income. As the village is located far from the center of town and often women do not find an experienced professional to sew dresses, and lack of equipment makes it impossible to teach girls and brides sewing skills. Taking into consideration all these women decided to sew and learn cutting and sewing skills. In addition, parallel to sewing business women want to rent land with the size of 10 acres for planting corn. Rent will cost about $ 200. Just for this women will need to buy 5 kg of seeds and fertilizer. After harvesting maize women want to sow on earth fodder. According to forecasts the profit will be more than 5 times of the expenses.

Club “Akhtaron”

   In the village Proletar live more than 2,000 households. 80% of the population is in the migration, which is the main source of rural life. Women engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing. Women of the club “Akhtaron” - is mostly women with incomplete secondary education. The age of women is from 21 to 55 years. All the women in the club merged based on their skills - the ability to embroider and sew. Women of the club suggest that purchasing sewing machines, machine “Chaika”, which performs different functions and overlock machine will bring significant income, as sewing is very developed in the district and demanded. Most women in the district due to lack of sewing shops have to leave the village to sew a dress. Creating a sewing shop in the district will improve the quality of life of women working in the sewing workshop, and other inhabitants of the district. Taking into consideration all these women decided to open a sewing shop. For this purpose they need to buy five sewing machines, one  overlock machine and machine “Chaika”.

 5. Club “Shukrona”

 The village Mopr has 350 households. Over 50% of population are women. The main sources of rural life is labor migration and agriculture. Women of the club “Shukrona” - are woman with secondary education. The age of members of the club is from 25 to 73 years. All the women in the club merged based on the fact that they all are poor women and not married. Primordially in this village all people engaged in the cultivation of potatoes and tomatoes. As now there is no male power and market for sale population has no opportunity to engage in the cultivation of potatoes. Given all this, the women decided to do embroidery and sewing. They think that girls and young women of the village have to learn skills of handmaking products. Most of the women because of the lack of sewing machines or skilled master have to travel outside the village to sew a dress for themselves. In this regard, the women decided to buy six sewing machines, one overlock machine.

Club “Dugonaho”

In the village Khursandi of Mehnatabad jamoat live more than 2,600 residents. More than 80% of population is in migration. Women are engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing. Women of the club “Dugonaho” - are woman with secondary and incomplete secondary education. Their age is from 35 to 45 years. The club was established after all clubs, but despite this they work quite successfully and caught up with their friends from other clubs. All the women in the club merged based on their skills - the ability to embroider and sew. At the last project period, the women of the club set up their sewing shop and bought manual sewing machines. Basically all women sewn bags for sale. But due to lack of machines which perform more complex functions (machine “Chaika”) and overlock machine women of the club could not engage in sewing dresses. In consequence of this woman decided to replenish their sewing shop within the program, the income from which will be significant, as sewing is very developed and demanded in the district. Most women in the district due to lack of sewing shops have to travel outside the village to sew a dress. Creating a sewing shop in the district will improve the quality of life of women working in the sewing workshop, and other inhabitants of the village.

Club “Istiklol”

  In the village komsomol live over 6,000 residents. More than 70% of the population is in migration. Women are engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing. Women of the  club "Istiqlol" - are women with secondary education. The age of members of the club is from 25 to 52 years. Basically, all people engaged in the cultivation of vegetables. In backyards women grow vegetables and greens. In the previous project period, women have purchased cow, but it still has not calved. After long discussions women have decided to continue the program of livestock breeding and buy two small calves and give them to the most needy women of the club: Hoshimova Ovayro and Mamahmadalieva Gulbarg. These women are members in the club from the first days of creation and are the most active. Also these women do not have their cows. Ovayro lost her son few years ago. He was killed in the migration. She herself has retired due to health and cannot sew or embroider.

Club “Umed”

In the village yangiturmush live over 400 households. 90% of men are in migration, which is the main source of rural life. Women are engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing. Women of the club “Umed” - are mostly women with secondary education. The age of them is from 35 to 62 years. In recent years, cotton production in the district is seriously weakened, and does not bring a good income. Women give gathered cotton to renters, and remains cotton stalks, which is the main fuel. In backyards women grow vegetables and greens, but the weather conditions do not allow them to grow early varieties that bring the profits. In the previous project period, women have bought construction materials for greenhouses. Already in autumn women of the club sowed the seeds of tomatoes and cucumbers. But, unfortunately, the winter was very severe, and the harvest was lost. Women in late winter urgently reseeded seeds by buying them from their own fund. Women have already sold some of the seedlings, and decided to build a greenhouse for another member of the club from earned money. After the sale of the whole crop women plan to build another greenhouse before the end of the year.

Under the the program of small grants women this year want to buy materials for one more greenhouse. On par with that, they want to open a sewing course for girls and young women of the village.

Club “Khursand”

 In the village of Sari puli 1 live more than 200 households. More than 90% of men are in migration. Women are engaged in farming and mainly cotton growing. Women of the club “Khursand” - are woman with secondary education. The age of members of the club is from 26 to 59 years. In backyards women grow vegetables and greens. Women of this club in the last project period purchased a cow that calved. Calf was left for the leader of the club Malumbi and cow was given to Manzura. Manzura is a young woman, divorced from her husband and has one daughter. Manzura was not literate, but divorce from her husband made her to get education. Recently, she began selling children's clothes on the market, but unfortunately, there was a fire in the market and all her goods had burned. She has borrowed money and starts all over again. During the seminar on planning, there was a lot of ideas, but still women decided to continue the program of livestock breeding and to purchase cow which will give to Saidalieva Navras.  Recently her daughter-in-law died after giving birth.

February 25-26 this year in Dushanbe

We completed series of trainings for policemen, judges, state lawyers and advocates by delivering the training for policemen in Dushanbe on February 25-26, 2022. The training was organized within the framework of the project “To build the capacity and increase the gender sensitivity of Judges, Police Officers and state legal aid lawyers for more effective investigation, prosecution and adjudication of SGBV related cases".
