Republican public organization “Association of Scientific and Technical Intelligentsia of Tajikistan” (further PO “ASTI”) is a non-government, nonprofit, nonpolitical public organization promoting the development of democratic reforms and improvement of quality of life of citizens in the Republic of Tajikistan, through the effective use of the potential of scientific and technical intelligentsia and strengthening the role of non-profit sector by realizing social, informational, coordinating, educational, consulting programs.
The goal of PO “ASTI” is to promote the development of democratic reforms and improvement of quality of life of the citizens in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Beginning from September 2018 PO “ASTI” implements the project “Family without violence” supported by the US Embassy in Tajikistan.
Implementation period: September 01, 2018 – August 31, 2019.
Target project areas: Surkh, Chorku and Vorukh jamoats of Isfara city.
The goal of the project is to promote to reduce the number of cases of domestic violence, cases of early and forced marriages, abolishing the tradition of “early marriage”, reducing the fear for their lives and the health of women and girls who may be subjected to domestic violence.
In the framework of the project the following events are planned:
- Organizing initiative groups from representatives of the local committees, jamoats, polices, the religious council and active citizens for communication and discussion the problem of family violence between population, local government and also law enforcement authorities;
- Capacity-building of the local committees, jamoat workers, police inspectors, “imoms” and “risk group”- women and girls, “potential victims” of domestic violence;
- Wide public awareness about the problem of domestic violence.
