Basics of traditional Islam
Within the framework of the project “Mainstreaming youth policy against radicalism” (MYPAR) funded by the European Commission in the framework of the “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights” a series of seminars were conducted for the target groups on “Fundamentals of traditional Islam”. These seminars were held for six youth groups in six target jamoats of Asht and B. Gafurov districts.
Aim and objectives of the seminar: to develop knowledge about religion and tolerance among the participants, as well as an explanation of the essence of the religion of Islam as a world religion.
At the beginning of seminars project staff welcomed all the participants and briefly told about the goals and objectives of the seminar. Then Makhkamboy Karimov, trainer of the Innovative Education Center of Agakhan human studies program, the University of Central Asia at KSU made a speech.
Within one day, the trainer conducted the session in the following areas:
Session 1: The nature and purpose of the appearance of religion
Session 2: Introduction to the history of the rise of Islam
Session 3: Explanation of the essence of traditional Islam
Session 4: Discussion of issue “Women and traditional Islam”
Session 5: Trends and sects in Islam
Session 6: Islam and the Modern World
After each lecture discussions were held regarding passed sessions with the aim of consolidating gained knowledge. Handouts were developed and distributed to the participants for all sessions.
Seminars were very interesting and informative.
