Town fair
PO Association of scientific and technical intelligentsia of Tajikistan within the framework of project "Poverty alleviation in Tajikistan through education and non-formal training", funded by the European Commission and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with the Executive Body of State Authority of Khujand town had a fair on vocational guidance of information corners and boards of Primary Vocational Education Institutions (PVEI) of the town on the theme "Make your choice.
The fair took place in the cultural park by name K. Khujandi of Khujand town on December 22. The Vocational Technical School № 31 of Khujand town, Vocational Polytechnical Lyceum of Khujand town, Vocational Lyceum of Service of Khujand town, State Unitary Enterprise “Training Center of Khujand town” participated in the fair and over two thousand high school graduates of Khujand town attended it.
To interest vocational schools and lyceums in the fair there was announced competition for the best board – corner among vocational schools and lyceums.
The members of special commission were the representatives of the Executive Body of State Authority of Khujand town, PO ASTI, the Department of Education of Sughd region and Khujand town.
The works of students of PVEIs of Khujand were presented at the fair: various tools, visual aids and a variety of posters made by students. Visitors of the fair could buy tools and products in various specialties, such as gas and electro welder, carpenter, seamstress. Students of the course of “hair stylist” of the Lyceum of Service Khujand offered visitors to make modern hairstyles.
The event was informal – it was really jolly holiday, to pass which was difficult. Concert program with participation of the young stars of the town held casual visitors for a long time in the park.
The first objective of the fair was to attract entrants to the atmosphere of general and primary vocational education. Second – to create a positive image of the primary vocational education, which is today unfortunately neglected, and most graduates want to enter the University at any price, not taking into consideration their aptitudes.
In order not to make mistake in their choice, in this day students had a unique opportunity to learn more about future profession and about the educational process from their peers - students of vocational schools and lyceums, as well as see the results of their work and even purchase them.
The most interesting and informative part of this event were entertaining games conducted by project staff as: role-playing games, quizzes about careers and opportunities of vocational schools and colleges, guessing the various puzzles and competition "Who will draw the most instruments?".
The most active participants of the fair got various prizes and sweaters with the symbol of the project.
According to the results of the expert commission the first place was given to VLS Khujand, the second to VPL Khujand, third place was given to Vocational School № 31 of Khujand and SUE “Training Center of Khujand town".
Also representatives of mass media TV and Radio Broadcasting Companies TV "SM-1", TV "ASIA", TV "Sughd" newspapers "Sogdiyskaya pravda", "Haqiqati Sughd" and "Omuzgor” were invited.
