Celebration of Navruz Holiday in Somoniyon

On March 22, a joint cross-border event was held in Somoniyon village at school # 64. The event was devoted to “Navruz” holiday under the title "Festival of Friendship".

The purpose of the event was to assist in strengthening mutual understanding, trust and cooperation in target communities of Kok Tosh and Somoniyon, through a joint international celebration of Navruz holiday.

The program of event was as follows:

- Speech of the representatives of communities and authorities;

- Holiday and friendship dinner, and national pilaf;

- Preparation of traditional dish “Sumanak” by the Tajik and Kyrgyz women;

- Sport events - football and volleyball;

- Carrying out cultural events - songs, dances, reciting of poems, etc.;

- Prizes for the winners.

At the end of the event the village elders and aksakals thanked everyone for their celebration of event and wished everyone peace and prosperity, as well as the success implementation of water line project.

The event took place in a good level and there was no conflict between the youth. Participants noted the importance of conducting such events in promoting understanding and friendship between the communities of Somoniyon of the Republic of Tajikistan and Kok-Tash of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

As a result of this event, members of the communities of the Republic of Tajikistan became close with the community members of the Kyrgyz Republic, and there appeared trust between the people of two countries, between people and law enforcement authorities, as well as between the population and local authorities.

Community Initiatives - the key to the development of the Tajik village

Public organization "Association of Scientific and Technical Intelligents of Tajikistan" in partnership with the Foundation for Education for Democracy (Poland) and the NGO "Khamroz" in February 2015 in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. We have launched a project called "Community Initiatives - the key to the development of the Tajik village", which aims to strengthen the capacity of local communities and civil society in the 10 villages of the Khatlon region of Tajikistan.
