Strategic Planning Seminar

Within the framework of the project “Mainstreaming youth policy against radicalism” (MYPAR) seminar on strategic planning was held on “Enhancing the professional knowledge of the staff of Youth, Sports and Tourism departments and employees of education departments”. The participants were representatives of the Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Sughd region, representatives of the Department of Youth, Sport and Tourism of Asht and B. Gafurov districts, departments of education of target districts (Asht and B.Gafurov), as well as vice-chairs of the target jamoats.

At the beginning of the seminar project coordinator Tyuryaev Jamshed welcomed all the participants and briefly spoke about the project and the purpose of this seminar and gave speech to the head of the head of “International Alert” in Tajikistan, Mark Fummogali.

At the one-day seminar participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the program of Youth Policy of the Committee of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Sughd region for 2010-2012. Dadoboev M. was invited as a trainer. Prior to the seminar the project team held meetings with the leaders of youth committees of Sughd region, Asht and B. Gafurov districts, as well as with representatives of the departments of education of these districts. During these meetings the difficulties encountered by these structures in their work with young people, and some of their skills that need to be developed were discussed. Among them:

• Ability to develop work plans on the basis of programs adopted at the national level

• Ability to develop plans of conducting variety of activities for young people

• Ability to conduct cultural actions

• Time Management

• Ability to work in a team

• Ability to work with people

• Ability to find common ground and come to a consensus

• Ability to analyze the situation and respond to it

• Methods of collection and analysis of information

• Oratorical skills

• Leadership qualities

• Development of tolerance 

Also at the seminar, participants were acquainted with the method of the SMART on drafting work plans and setting goals. Further, participants were divided into two groups by regions and based on the work plan of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Sughd region for 2010-2012 they developed their work plans for various events.

In general, the seminar was held at a high level, and participants proposed to conduct similar seminars also on other topics. As the chairman of the Committee on Youth, Sports and Tourism of Asht district Mirdadoev Z. said “All the skills that we got at the seminar will help us in the future for the development of work plans on youth policy based on the work plan of the Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism of Sughd region.
