Obtaining working profession - dictate of the time

Non-Governmental Organization Association of scientific and technical intelligentsia of Tajikistan within the project "Poverty alleviation in Tajikistan through education and non-formal training" which is implemented in close cooperation with vocational schools and technical lyceums holds a regular TV talk show on the theme "Obtaining working profession – require of contemporary life".

Modern life makes a person new, specific requirement. This should be a person who knows how to think critically and independently, make decisions and take responsibility for them. In many respects task of education of all these qualities in the younger generation lies on the education system. Many people with higher education are forced to get a working profession.

When choosing a profession school graduate focuses on the advice of friends and people close to him, rather than on his abilities and capabilities. And having received diploma about high education, young specialist does not find use to his knowledge and had to get a working profession to feed his family.

Some of them go to a professional masters (usto), others to their relatives, and some are taught in short - term courses in Training Centers and Institutions of Primary Vocational Education (vocational schools and lyceums).

This television talk show was dedicated to this theme, its problems and prospects.

UPSHIFT is a 4-day training conducted at the Innovation Labs

There are many active youth in Tajikistan and they can be a great force for positive social change. They speak clearly and when given the opportunity, they can be strong advocates of their views on various issues. UPSHIFT is a 4-day training conducted at the Innovation Labs and we consider creativity to be an untapped resource and a driving force for positive social change. As a creative space, the Lab identifies, prototypes and scales technologies and practices that catalyze the social change by unleashing the creative potential of youth and adolescents. It allows teenagers to identify personal development, knowledge, national and universal values, problems of the society in which they live, and use new tools in developing their future plans.The goals consist of four important parts: understanding, designing, building and testing, and the final UPSHIFT phase is making it real, and additional mentorship to help turn their ideas into action. The training was held at the Innovation Lab of Asht district with participation of 32 adolescents. Training teaches the participants to understand community challenges and design and build impactful solutions. This event was held by the PO "ASTI", within the framework of the project "Skills for future and transition to work life" with the support of UNICEF Tajikistan.
