Some aspects of labor migration in Sughd

In the history of human development the processes of population resettlement has always occurred and people constantly moved from one place to another, guided by economic, social, environmental, psychological or political reasons. This process has not bypassed Tajiks too.

Since ancient times these people due to historical changes moved from labor-surplus areas to labor-deficient settlements, but most often, within their own state-administrative unit. Recently, terms such as "external labor migration," "migrant workers" or "gustarbaiter" firmly entered the lexicon, and consciousness and life of Tajiks.

Therefore the aim of our study was: "... the definition of a medium labor migrant portrait from Tajikistan, the identification of the relationship to improve the situation of migrant workers with the acquisition of popular specialties for the place of the alleged work abroad."

In the given report, we are making the first attempts to analyze future trends in the process of external border labor migration. For the readers’ review are given preliminary statistically processed results of labor migration flows, review of the package of documents regulating process of labor migration, activity characteristics of the representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan on the territory of Russia as the main importer of labor force from Tajikistan.

We hope these results will be useful in implementing the concept of labor migration of Tajik citizens abroad.

UPSHIFT is a 4-day training conducted at the Innovation Labs

There are many active youth in Tajikistan and they can be a great force for positive social change. They speak clearly and when given the opportunity, they can be strong advocates of their views on various issues. UPSHIFT is a 4-day training conducted at the Innovation Labs and we consider creativity to be an untapped resource and a driving force for positive social change. As a creative space, the Lab identifies, prototypes and scales technologies and practices that catalyze the social change by unleashing the creative potential of youth and adolescents. It allows teenagers to identify personal development, knowledge, national and universal values, problems of the society in which they live, and use new tools in developing their future plans.The goals consist of four important parts: understanding, designing, building and testing, and the final UPSHIFT phase is making it real, and additional mentorship to help turn their ideas into action. The training was held at the Innovation Lab of Asht district with participation of 32 adolescents. Training teaches the participants to understand community challenges and design and build impactful solutions. This event was held by the PO "ASTI", within the framework of the project "Skills for future and transition to work life" with the support of UNICEF Tajikistan.
