Involving women in the social life of community

The first event which was held independently by the young people of the Youth Contact Group (YCG) in Chorkuh village was the competition “Come on, girls!” on March 14, 2017 at the Youth Center of Chorkuh jamoat.

The members of the YCG worked out the program of the event; they chose the Youth Center of Chorkuh to hold the event, the administration of which supported the initiative of the youth. The guys from YCG of Chorkuh contacted the members of YCG of Samarkandek and Pasky-aryk villages of Batken district of Kyrgyzstan and invited girls of Samarkandak and Pasky-aryk to participate in the contest.

The program of the contest included the demonstration of national clothes, cooking of national cuisine, songs and dances of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Participants from all communities showed interesting numbers and good preparation for the competition.

We should note the activity of not only girls, but also adult women from Samarkandek village. They showed several concert numbers, which made the holiday even more interesting.

All participants of the event were awarded with gifts.

Holding such events is an opportunity to increase the activity of women and involve them in the community's social life.

The event was held within the framework of the project “Strengthening cooperation of youth in the border communities of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan” implemented by PO ASTI with the support of UNDP Tajikistan.
