Radicalism, tolerance and conflict

Within the framework of the project “Mainstreaming youth policy against radicalism” (MYPAR) funded by the European Commission in the framework of the “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights” a series of seminars were held on “Radicalism, tolerance and conflict” for the target groups. These seminars were held for six youth groups in six target jamoats of Asht and B. Gafurov districts.

Aims and objectives of the seminar: to develop knowledge about religion and tolerance among the participants, as well as disclosure of the concept of conflict and the ways out of the conflict.

To conduct these seminars a trainer was involved. As a trainer Amonov A. A. - senior lecturer of Philology department in the Faculty of Arab language, Candidate of Philology in Khujand State University named after academician B. Gafurov.

During one day, the trainer conducted session in the following areas:

• Radicalism and its types

• Tolerance and its contents

• Conflict and causes of conflict

• Types of conflicts

• Rules of conduct during the conflict

• Ways out of the conflict

After each lecture, discussions were held regarding passed sessions with the aim of consolidating the knowledge. Handouts were developed and distributed to the participants for all sessions.

At the end of the seminars second phase of intermediate questionnaire were conducted. This questionnaire was conducted in order to identify the level of secondary schools pupils' awareness and target jamoats of Asht and B. Gafurov districts.

Thus, the results showed that the youth groups after attending seminars they became aware of conducted topic and know the basics of traditional Islam such concepts as radicalism, tolerance, conflict, and much more.
