Project “Community security in the Ferghana valley”

In 15 communities of Batken, Osh and Jalal-Abad regions of Kyrgyzstan and Sughd region of Tajikistan partner organizations Saferworld, PO “ASTI” (RT) , the PO “YID” (RT) and FTI (KR) implement the project “Community security in the Ferghana valley”. The project is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain. 
In September and October, 2013 a study was conducted with the purpose of identification new target communities. As a result of the study PO “ASTI” will additionally work in jamoats Surkh and Vorukh of Isfara district. 
Since April 2014 PO “ASTI” has started its project activities in abovementioned jamoats as well. 
 
In April of this year several meetings were held with the head of Isfara district, chairmen of jamoats Surkh and Vorukh, where were presented the main activities of the project and the key achievements of the project in the previous target communities. Following the meetings, agreements were reached on cooperation of local authorities with the project.
 
In May of this year it is planned to organize meetings in the new target communities with the aim of formation a working group on communities’ security (WGCS) of the number of activists, representatives of local authorities and law enforcement agencies. Also it is scheduled to begin a series of meetings in all target communities on the “Cycle of security”. The first step of the activity will be organization of meetings with the population to determine the safety problems.

Regional meetings with local NGOs

In the framework of the first component "Peace begins with us" supported by UNICEF, there were two regional meetings and with the participation of local NGOs.
