Investigation of the production of seedlings apricot in Tajikistan.

This study was conducted as part of PO ASTI in USAID programs for the effective development of agriculture in 4 districts of Sughd region - Asht, Isfara, Kanibodom and B. Gafurov areas where there are large apricot field in northern Tajikistan. Government statistics show that in early 2008, Tajikistan had apricot fields in squares 23,260 hectares. Area under the apricot fields annually increased by several thousand hectares. According to government strategy from 2010 till 2014, only apricot orchards in the north of country should be increased by an additional 11,000 hectares and fruit trees should reach 40 781 hectares. These 11,000 hectares and additional several thousand hectares of gardens, increased requirements to the plants as primary input materials required for the productive development of fruit growing in Tajikistan.

On this basis, this study aims to identify problems in this direction for future development of the industry and to ensure access to reliable manufacturers, high quality and pureness seedlings and eventually all this will create a fertile ground for growing apricots in accordance with the requirements of the market.
